Faux 3D technique seen in many documentary productions.
Promotional images for advertising campaign web pages. The static, still images were pretty dull, adding subtle animation helped the 2D images seem a little more dynamic.

These are animated in real-time using Adobe Flash, but of course can also be created for more traditional video.
